[WapCar] Automatic parking is an autonomous car-maneuvering system that moves a vehicle from a traffic lane into a parking spot. The automatic parking system aims to enhance the comfort and safety of driving in constrained environments where much attention and experience is required to steer the car. The parking maneuver is achieved by means of coordinated control of the steering angle and speed which takes into account the actual situation in the environment to ensure collision-free motion within the available space.

Working Principle

The vehicle can automatically retrieve the parking position of the parking lot through the ultrasonic radar and camera, and automatically start the parking assistance operation next to the free parking space. After pressing the button, the steering wheel will operate on its own. As long as the driver switches gears according to the prompts, the system can properly guide the vehicle into the parking space.

1. Ultrasonic sensor detects parking spaces

Utilize the vehicle's own ultrasonic sensor to detect a suitable parking space, the vehicle will automatically take over the steering wheel to control the direction, and park the vehicle into the parking space. The following is a demonstration of Magotan's automatic parking:

2. The camera recognizes the parking space

The vehicle can automatically retrieve the parking position of the parking lot through the camera, and automatically start the parking assistance operation next to the free parking space. After pressing the button, the steering wheel will operate by itself, just follow the prompts to switch gears, and the system can guide the vehicle into the parking space. The following is a demonstration of the tenth-generation Accord automatic parking:

Automatic parking can be realized: vertical parking, side parking and oblique parking, but oblique parking is only available in some models. In addition, some high-end models can not only automatically park the vehicle into the parking space, but also automatically drive out of the parking space, which further reduces the driver's work and improves the convenience.
