Overview

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera – Overview

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is beautiful in its absolute; it is the return of a great Aston Martin name and signals Aston Martin’s return to the very pinnacle of the Super GT sector and the credentials iconic model. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera name – translated to ‘superlight’, promises an especially lithe coupe that builds upon some of the DB11’s aerodynamic advancements.

Adding features like an F1-inspired double diffuser to increase downforce and a new exhaust strategy with active valves and quad tail pipes ensures the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera has a commanding and powerful sound character, particularly in the more aggressive dynamic modes.

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera completes the brand’s ambition to replace each of the existing two-door sports car models as part of the transformational Second Century Plan to make the vehicle into a super grand tourer that competes with its rivals Ferrari GTC4 Lusso and Porsche 911.

Exterior

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera – Exterior

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera turns up the aggression with a much larger black grille and a front splitter. Details like the hood’s flared power bulges, the side louvres and the quad exhaust outlets with matte black finishers distinguish the brand’s flagship grand tourer.

21-inch wheels fitted with tyres measuring 265/35ZR21 in front and 305/30ZR21 at the back, which home the dark anodized brake callipers with carbon-ceramic brake discs of 410 mm and 360 mm diameters front and rear, respectively. This Y-spoke design comes in three finishes, with a twin-spoke design in two finishes.

Evolving innovative aerodynamic concepts such as the curlicue and Aeroblade that generates 180kg of downforce at VMAX: the highest figure ever for a series production Aston Martin. The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera equipped with an F1-inspired double-diffuser, LED headlamps with daytime running lights, adjustable headlights, power adjustable exterior rear-view mirror, rain sensing wiper, side mirror turn indicator and integrated antenna.

Interior

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera – Interior

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is a grand-touring sports car and as such comes standard with plenty of luxuries to have a comfortable trip such as Caithness leather and Alcantara are the default cabin materials, steering wheel finished in a mix of leather and Alcantara and leather-wrapped power-adjustable sports seats with heat and memory settings.

Standard leather that is applied to the door panels and centre console armrest. An embossed DBS logo or the Aston Martin wings embroidered into the seats. The colour of the seatbelts, roof liner and carpets can be individually specked. Twill carbon fibre, piano black and dyed Tamo open pore wood are among the available trim inlays
The centre console caters for small-item storage in the cabin, although it isn’t especially deep.

There are two cupholders in the centre console, too, but the door bins aren’t large and there is no traditional glovebox ahead of the front-seat passenger. Although it has four seats, the rear seats are only useful for small children or as extra packing space, as there simply isn’t enough leg or headroom for adults. Though the vehicle is quite low to the ground, ingress and egress are easy enough for the driver and front-seat passenger.

Trunk compartment is shallow, so space is restricted to around 255 litre of boot space and the rear seats do provide additional storage when required. Adding to the driver’s convenience is a side mirror tilt-down feature when reverse gear is selected, which together with a 360-degree camera system, makes parking a less stressful affair.

A power-adjustable steering column, push-button ignition, and cruise control, tacho meter, electronic multi trip meter, digital clock, digital odometer, touch sensitive automatic climate control, keyless entry, front/rear parking sensors and parking assistance comes as standard.

Ride Comfort

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera – Ride Comfort

The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera stiffened and lowered adaptive suspension, wider tires, more downforce from the many changes in the aerodynamic bodywork and many carbon fibres parts to keep the weight low to ensure ultimate agility and handling precision one may expect.

It’s still a blast to drive, though, with a sonorous V12 scream the obsession with proportioning of the adaptive damping suspension does more than enough to justify the breath-taking aggressive styled machine.

Conclusion
