The 2020 second generation Grand Starex facelift was officially unveiled by Hyundai Sime Darby Malaysia in early 2020 with two new variants on offer- the base Executive Plus and the higher-spec Executive Prime, with revised styling and equipment on both the exterior and the interior.
Locally assembled in Malaysia, the diesel-powered 11-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) are priced from RM163,888 and RM171,888 respectively and comes included with a five-year limited mileage warranty (300,000 km). It presents a cheaper alternative to premium Japanese rivals like the Toyota Vellfire and competes directly against a similarly priced Kia Grand Carnival.
Seating Capacity- Multiple seating configuration that allows up to 11 total occupants at maximum seating capacity makes it highly versatile and practical.
Interior Space- As one of the largest MPV on the market on offer, it offers a generous interior space with ample knee room and head room for all occupants.
Comfortable Ride- The suspension is tuned with comfort in mind. Its supple ride quality makes it a good long distance people carrier.
Modern Amenities- The lack of modern features such as mobile phone connectivity makes the car less appealing to the modern consumers.
Safety Feature- The lack of ISOFIX anchor point for a car aimed predominantly at large family seems like a gross oversight from Hyundai.
Dated Design- The dated interior design may be functional, but it could certainly use a major refresh.
