Kia Malaysia, the manufacturing joint venture between Kia Motor and local distributor Bermaz Auto, appears to have started export of the Malaysia-assembled (CKD) Kia Sorento to Thailand. Kia has announced the 2023 Kia Sorento facelift for its Korea domestic market. However, prices and mechanical details are still kept under wraps as the model will only be launched in August. What we do know is that its front-end now looks dramatically different from before. Instead of a very horizontal design motive emphasizing the 3-row seat SUV’s wide stance, the new Sorento facelift has T-bar, almost Cadillac-like design motive. Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille has also been reinterpreted.

Following our review of the range-topping 2023 Kia Sorento recently, we were left wanting, perhaps of a bit more panache should we say, possibly because it offers the same powertrain found in the oh-so-good Kia Grand Carnival, thus expectations were justifiably high. For the most part, the Sorento 2.2D offers a nicely designed and well-balanced overall package, and comes packed with goodies and features (though at a cost), but lacked the driving composure that the Carnival so beautifully deliver

If anyone were to ask yours truly on the favourite car of 2022, it would be the Kia Carnival. Expectations had to do with a part of it, but mostly it was because the Carnival is such a compelling product. Naturally, when the 2023 Kia Sorento was launched, I had expected great things from it based on prior experience with the Carnival.
