The all-new Nissan Livina was launched in 2019 in Indonesia, and it is based on the Mitsubishi Xpander as part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The previous MPV received the X-Gear treatment early in its life cycle, which is mostly cosmetic upgrades that include black fenders, side body garnish, sportier bumpers and roof rails. The second generation Nissan Livina, bearing the designation ND1W, has not been given the same X-Gear treatment yet, and no news has been given on it yet.
The new Livina is available in a single body style only, unlike the old one. It is a 5-door with crossover-like proportions that can seat 7. Moving it is a 1.5-litre engine witn no turbocharger, that can be paired to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. There are four trim levels available right now in Indonesia: E, EL, VE, and VL. There’s also a special ‘Sporty’ edition, limited to 100 units with additional red and black accents, as well as a few extra features.
The new Nissan Livina is an all-new car that is basically a Mitsubishi Xpander with a different skin. The looks have evolved quite dramatically from a low-slung estate to a crossover, which is a very welcome change. Up front is the familiar Nissan V-motion grille and daytime running lights, while visual drama is added with silver trims all around on the front bumper, sides, and diffuser-like inserts at the rear.
There are obvious relations to the X-Trail at the back here. The blacked out pillars create a nice floating roof effect from the side as well. The final iteration of the old Livina with X-Gear treatment has refreshed front bumpers, black fenders all around, black body cladding around the wheel arches and sides, and finally a set of roof rails that are functional.
It was made available in 2013, and vehicle design has moved on drastically in the past decade so don’t expect the same treatment to the new Livina. Even so, there’s a lot of silver around this new ND1W Livina, so maybe it is due for some black accents. In the first generation, the Livina only seats 5 with its two rows, while the Grand Livina, with a longer rear overhang, has 3 rows of seats. The new Livina already has 3 rows of seats for 7 people, and so it’s unlikely to have a Grand Livina variant.
