  • Besides the WRX and BRZ, we look back at Subaru's other significant models for its 70th birthday

Considered a bit of an underdog compared to its richer and more popular Japanese peers, Subaru is turning 70 in 2023. Even though it was established in 1953 as Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., the origins of Subaru began in 1917. A century after the company first took off (this pun will eventually make sense), Fuji Heavy Industries renamed itself Subaru Corporation. However, before it became known more as a carmaker, Subaru started off in the aircraft industry. 1917-53: A flying start Cikuhei Nakajim

  • Subaru teased the current BRZ's design 10 years ago and we all missed it drooling over the BRZ SUV concept carrying it

Carmakers and their concepts should always be consumed together with all the salt the Dead Sea has to offer, in that you should always cast doubt on the odds of those concepts being turned into the reality of production cars we can actually buy. Sometimes, they’re merely design exercises or a “Hail Mary” by carmakers in the red hoping to reignite excitement among the public. Either way, take them all in the same conviction of a hot girl liking one of your Instagram posts… it never means she want

  • 15 photos to decide if you prefer the Subaru BRZ over the Toyota GR86

The second-generation Subaru BRZ was unveiled in late-2020. It continued the tradition of a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports car with relatively low weight and low centre of gravity. Before we continue, we’d like to extend our gratitude to Motion Beyond (Subaru Setia Alam) for the hospitality and making this photoshoot possible. • Looking for a sub-RM 100k car to improve your driving? Get a used Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ

If you’re looking for a car to hone your driving skills with a budget of around RM 100k, the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ twins are highly recommended. Why the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ? Because they’re rear-wheel drive (RWD). When it comes to driving, RWD cars are generally preferred by enthusiasts. Why is RWD preferred? It’s all about balance and utilizing the available traction from all four tyres. With a RWD car’s drivetrain spread out across the underbody, the front-to-rear weight distribution is more e

  • Scoop: Next-gen 2025 Toyota GR86 to drop Subaru boxer - gets 1.6T hybrid, 330 PS, Lexus IS platform

It took Toyota (and Subaru) nearly ten years between the launch of the first-generation 86/BRZ and its successor but according to rumours from Japanese media, the third generation could be launched much sooner. How soon is that? Well, sources told Best Car Web that Toyota is aiming for the next-gen GR86 to be launched as early as 2025. If Toyota can achieve that goal, it would make the current GR86 have the shortest lifecycle thus far. One of the reasons for the probable short model life might b
