The 2021 Toyota Corolla Cross replaces the Toyota C-HR in Malaysia. It's a five-seater SUV with two rows of seats. It's pretty modern, coming with LED head and tali lights, wearing an aggressive front end but still rather restrained in its design. The Corolla Cross rides on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. Depending on variant, the Corolla Cross in other markets gets 2 different powertrains, a 1.8-litre pure-petrol one (140 PS/177 Nm) and a 1.8-litre hybrid (combined system output: 122 PS). Both are naturally aspirated and paired to a CVT. Malaysian details are as yet unconfirmed.
Inside, the Corolla Cross gets leather upholstery, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support) and more expensive variants get a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster. Boot space is 487 litres with the rear seats up, and the rear seats are 60:40 split folding too for bigger bootspace. Safety wise, there's 7 airbags across all variants and since Malaysian-spec Corolla Altis already comes with full suite of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), it's expected that the Corolla Cross will get it too.
Coming to Malaysia in 2021, the Corolla Cross is bound to compete against the Honda HR-V and Subaru XV.
