The 185/65-15 tire size is taller on the sidewall and likely to give a slightly softer ride vs the same tire in 175/65-15. But the overall performance of the tire will vary greatly with which tire category you select and even with the exact model of tire you choose so do your shopping carefully.

  • Can I use 185 65r15 instead of 175 65R14?

“Can I fit 175/65 R14 tyres on 185/65R14 rims? The original tyres and rims of my car are 175/70R13. What will be the effects on the current 185/65R14 and the latter with 175/65R14?” Yes you can, and eventually you can make it work, however, ideally you shouldn't.
  • What is the difference between R14 and R15 tyres?

R14 means Radial tyre with 14 inch diameter. R15 means Radial tyre with 15 inch diameter.
  • Can I change my tire with 175 width to 185 without changing the rim?

Can I change my tire with 175 width to 185 without changing the rim? Yes. The 185 is the width of the tire. Most rims that support a 175mm wide tires will easily handle a 185mm wide tire.
  • Can I use 185 65R15 instead of 175 65R15?

Yes you can, but the better size would be 185/60 R15 so that the difference in speed between the actual vs speedometer reading is minimized, and the difference between the actual mileage vs the shown mileage is minimized.
  • Can I use 165 tires instead of 175?

Yes, you can replace the 165 tires wit 175 tires. The circumference of the 175/65 is slightly smaller so your speedometer will read slightly lower than it did before for any given engine speed.
