  1. PRACTICALITY- If you are concerned about the number of cupholders and boot space available on the Mazda MX-5, perhaps you are shopping at the wrong vehicle category entirely. Space, or the lack thereof, has and always will be a complaint. Rather, it is a deliberate engineering design choice, to make the car as compact and as nimble as possible. Anyone above 180 cm will certainly find it a tight squeeze.
  2. PERFORMANCE- In the world of turbocharging and electrification, even the purists have to admit that they could use a little more power in the Mazda MX-5. While naturally aspirated engines will always provide the purest engine response, the 184 PS from its 2.0-litre engine appears modest on paper.
  3. RIDE COMFORT- Like most sportscars, the ride is not tuned for comfort in mind. Malaysian-spec Mazda MX-5s comes with a conservatively-sized 205/45 R17 wheel which should dampen out some of the harsher bumps on the road. However, senior citizens looking at a Mazda MX-5 as your retirement car might want to go for a test drive to discover your tolerance level.
