When you were cut off from American foods for an extended time what was the dish you missed the most? I lived in India for ten years and I probably missed American snack foods more than anything else. And Cheerios. And hamburgers. Fresh vegetables. A lot of that I could get from grocery stores with imported goods. They’d have Doritos sometimes, M & Ms sometimes, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups sometimes, cans of root beer sometimes. But I didn’t ever see Cheerios, my favorite cereal. My parents sent me a large package with a few boxes of cereal, but I never got it. It was supposed to be a surprise, so I didn’t know to expect it. I got the slip from the post office weeks after the box arrived and by the time I got a ride there, no one could find it. Kellogg’s makes cereal in India, like Corn Flakes and Froot Loops, but they have a different texture than they do in the U.S. a bit more abrasive in the mouth, so they’re not the same. It was a thrill when someone sent me a 5 pound bag of Good & Plenty candy from the U.S. Beef isn’t too common in India, but there was a Parsi owned restaurant a short walk from our flat where we could get beef sizzlers and those did nicely as a substitute for steak and chunks of meat. But no hamburgers. Once in a while I’d get a burger from Burger King (a local restaurant in Pune, no relation to the international food chain) but they just weren’t the same, with a bit of an “off” flavor to them. While India has a lot of fresh vegetables in the markets, almost everyone eats them cooked with oil and loads of spices that cover up the natural flavors of raw food, so it’s hard to find ones that taste good raw (although I’ll admit, I stink at picking fresh vegetables here in the U.S. too, but my success rate in India was a lot, lot lower…) But I didn’t dwell on it much. I was eating a lot of really great Indian food on an almost daily basis. And I’ve got the fat, bulging gut to prove it.
Very good Question. Many of us are very comfortable with real estate as an asset class and most of us believe it to be less risky and think the return is highest and unmatched by any other asset class. Let us take the example., Suppose you bought property in 2000 at Rs 15 lacs is worth Rs 75 lacs in 2012. Growth of Rs 60 lacs in a matter of just 12 years, fantastic! Isn’t? Ok, let us mathematically check at what rate it has grown., We can use the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) or use XIRR function in MS excel to find by how much has the property given every year? The property grew at the rate of 13.17% ,for the period Jan 2000 to Jan 2012. Now, assume if you had invested Rs 15 lacs in HDFC Top 200 G for the same period. You would have made Rs 1.29 crs at a rate of 18% (Its not a false return because b/w those period the aforesaid fund grew by 18%). So, It is proved that Large cap diversified equity funds tend to give higher returns compared to real estate in the long term. I think my explanation will give you a better picture for your investment. Thank You

Guarantee availed on behalf of Friend or Acquaintance - ,Rs. 35 Lacs Total Liabilities - Rs. 4.07 Crores Assuming even interest rate at 15% per annum on all liabilities for 2 years - that still gives a total liability of Rs. 5.48 Crore still much lesser than this Assets. Summary:- (a) Many Sites claim SSR had a net worth of 55 - 60 Crore. This is absolutely heavily exaggerated. Based on reliable whatsapp sources from financier group in Mumbai courtesy of Shri Murali Deshmaane and Shri Ajju Paage (Pronounced Paa Gay) his net worth including receivables is ,Rs. 19 Crores ,approximately and he owed around ,Rs. 4 Crore This puts his net worth including Receivables at ,Rs. 15 Crore This puts his net worth without including receivables at ,Rs. 5.56 Crore ,including around Rs. 1.50 Crore in the Bank, a fully paid for leased apartment. (b) Despite claims that he charged Rs. 5 - 7 Crore per film, the sad truth according to sources is that SSR was actually paid only Rs. 10 Lakh for Kai Po Che, Rs. 75 Lakh for MS Dhoni. He was promised Rs. 4.5 crore for Raabta but out of this only Rs. 1 Crore was paid and the remaining 3.5 Crore was only as contingency depending on how much profit the producer made. He got nothing. Likewise he was paid only Rs. 1.50 Crore for Kedarnath and the balance of Rs. 3.50 Crore was to be paid only after the Producer made profit. Finally for Chichore - Nadiadwala promised him a pay of Rs. 7.5 Crore out of which Rs. 3.5 Crore was paid and the balance of Rs. 4 Crore was to be paid after the movie made a profit which it did. Yet sources say so far SSR has not got any money from that front. SSRs friends claimed that an Event Management Company owed him Rs. 1.66 Crore for various appearances and performances for a number of events. This fee was to have been settled by April 1st - 2nd Week but due to COVID 19 it took time. (c) Around 20 days before his suicide - SSR paid off Around Rs. 52 Lacs of Debts to various credit agencies. His CIBIL score was 742 (2019 May) (d) SSRs friends claim - SSR is owed money from Dharma Productions as well. The claim is SSR was always shortchanged. People would promise him a huge sum but always dithered to pay the balance and SSR was too polite and full of self respect to harrangue them for money. After sometime he would give it up. Bandra Police confirmed that Sushant Singh Rajputs ,accounts were regular, loans were regular and standard, CIBIL score was quite High and all his borrowings were well secured and covered with collateral. Discaimer - Being Bollywood - this is still only Gupshup based on the best of my information. There are others who claim he was worth 60 Crore while others who say he was destitute.
No, it is a genuinely bad idea. “Way lower price” could be a clear indication of the state of the market, unpopular location, quality of construction etc. A resale will be a herculean task.
