RON is just an abbreviation of Research Octane Number (RON) which signifies the branches of the hydrocarbons. There are three kinds of RON gasoline in Malaysia: RON95, RON97, and RON100. People usually think RON has something to do with the quality of petrol which translates into the different prices between them both. The higher the RON number, the higher the quality and the more expensive the price.
The numbers such as RON95 or RON97 signify the number of hydrocarbon branches. The higher numbers indicate its higher level of compression required to detonate the fuel. Higher compression levels may mean more power output, depending on the type of vehicle specifications. If your vehicle’s recommended fuel requirement is RON95. For details, you can check the car manual, which one RON is recommended.
The main advantages of a diesel engine compared with a gasoline one come in terms of fuel efficiency, engine reliability, and power. Because diesel engines are built to withstand higher compression, they tend to be more reliable and last longer than gasoline engines. Another reason diesel engines last longer than gas engines is due to the fuel that they burn. Diesel fuel is a type of distillate fuel that is essentially produced from crude oil, which gives diesel engines slower cylinder wear than gasoline engines.
