Electrified cars in Indonesia are not that quite in demand but data has shown that sales are increasing though hybrid vehicles are a more favourable choice over electric vehicles (EVs) among buyers. Just like Malaysia, Indonesia’s EV infrastructure is more concentrated in urban areas so individual EV model sales rarely breach 1,000 units a month. According to Gaikindo, Indonesia’s best-selling EV in May is the Ioniq 5 which saw 918 units sold and is followed by the Wuling Air with 455 units sold

Leading the way in April 2022 is the Toyota Avanza with 5,040 units sold. In fact, Toyota should be proud as it continues to dominate Indonesia with 6 models occupying the top 10 best-sellers of the month with the Avanza’s upmarket twin, the Veloz taking third place with 4,859 units, and the Innova placing fifth having sold 3,336 unit

More news of the 2023 Toyota Innova trickles through our newsdesk, with this time being a naming clue that could point to the model's hybrid aspirations. The latest bit of news through Indonesian sources is that Toyota has registed the name 'Innova Hycross', which could be a portmanteau of the name Hybrid Cross. The third-gen 2022 Toyota Avanza is due to make its international debut in the coming weeks. Though we have published photos of what the all-new Avanza will look like, here’s one coincidentally next to its predecessor courtesy of Indonesian automotive sleuth, Indra Fathan. Well, it’s an early pre-facelift model of the outgoing generation but you can see how much more grown-up and premium the all-new Avanza looks like.
