Vietnam’s trade ministry announced yesterday that China’s Chery has signed a joint venture agreement with Vietnamese company Geleximco to build a USD 800 million (~RM 3.8 billion) plant to manufacture electric vehicles. The plant will be costal province of Thai Binh, and will produce battery EVs (BEVs) for Chery’s Omoda and Jaecoo brands. Phase one of the plant’s construction will be completed by Q1 2026. Four BYD showrooms in Hong Kong recently experienced a series of vandalism attacks causing damage and disruption to the facilities recently. The incidents, categorised as criminal damage by the Hong Kong police, took place within a span of three hours in the districts of central Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories. All attacks involved a modus operandi of throwing red paint and/or smashing security gates of the premises. In one case, a 2-litre paint can was retrieved nearby the showroom.

Honda Malaysia has confirmed that it will be launching the Honda WR-V in the third quarter of this year. The A-segment SUV will be positioned below the B-segment Honda HR-V, and will be the first of its kind for Honda Malaysia.
