Volvo Cars is making changes to its electric vehicle lineup, part of its strategy to transition to a fully electric car manufacturer by 2030. The company has announced a streamlined and standardised approach to naming its fully electric models. The fully-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge will now be known as the EX40 and EC40 respectively. This aligns them with Volvo's other electric models: the EX30, EX90, and EM90. Volvo’s 40-series compact cars, including the Volvo XC40 and C40, are built on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. This platform was co-developed with Geely, specifically through its Sweden-based subsidiary, China Euro Vehicle Technology AB (CEVT). 2023 is going to be an electrifying year for Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) as the company announced its latest step forward in their electrification ambitions to transform Malaysia into an electric vehicle hub for the region. The self-declared e-luxury carmaker has already begun deliveries to Indonesia in 2022 and the next step sees new exportations expected to Vietnam and the Philippines this year.
