12 year old GM2 City replaced by GM6 Honda City in Pakistan, still no stability control

Honda Atlas Cars, the official distributor of Honda models in Pakistan has just launched the GM6-generation Honda City in the country.
The GM6-generation Honda City will supersede the GM2-generation model, which has been on sale in Pakistan for 12 years.
In Pakistan, Honda Atlas Cars is offering three variants of the GM6 Honda City – 1.2L S, 1.5L S, and 1.5L Aspire.
The entry-level variant is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does 90 PS and 110 Nm. Moving up the range is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre petrol unit that does 120 PS and 145 Nm. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual and a CVT-type automatic.
Equipment-wise, the GM6 City sold in Pakistan is spartan compared to the now-discontinued Malaysian-spec model.
LED headlights and tail lights are not offered in Pakistan, as all variants of the City sold in Pakistan receive halogen headlights and bulb-type tail lights. They also don’t get the 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels found on the Malaysian-spec City; instead, they get 15-inch units across the board. Lesser variants get steel wheels with plastic covers, while upper variants get a dual-tone unit.
Stepping into its beige-coloured cabin, the Pakistani-spec GM6 City is largely similar across all variants. The lower variants receive a 7-inch touchscreen unit, while upper variants get a larger 9-inch unit. Two speakers are standard for the S variants, while Aspire variants bump the speaker count to four. Tweeters are optional.
The Pakistani-spec City’s barebones level is also reflected in its safety equipment. All variants are fitted with dual front airbags and ABS – no stability control, no traction control, no side and curtain airbags.
Prices start from PKR 2,599,000 (~RM 68k) for the base 1.2L S MT variant, before topping out at PKR 3,174,00 (~RM 83k) for the top-spec 1.5L Aspire CVT variant.
For comparison, these prices put the GM6 City higher than the Proton Saga (PKR 2,175,000, ~RM 59k) to PKR 2,425,000, ~RM 66k). On paper the comparison may seem unfair, but the cheaper Proton offers stability control, traction control, and hill hold assist.
Meanwhile, other rivals like the Toyota Yaris (sold here as the Vios), does offer stability control and hill hold assist, though airbag count is still two. The Yaris is priced between PKR 2,409,000 (~RM 63k) to PKR 2,899,000 (~RM 75k).
