The 2020 Volvo S90 facelift, which is already confirmed for Malaysia, has just been revealed with a tweaked exterior design, 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain options, and a redeveloped Bowers & Wilkins sound system.

Starting from the exterior, there are new fog lights, a new spoiler design, new design elements in the taillamps and new bumpers.

Inside, the upgraded Bowers and Wilkins audio system gets a new amplifier, automatic vehicle noise cancellation and a new setting that alters the ambience. The 12-volt outlets at the rear are now replaced by 2 USB-C charging points. Wireless charging is available in selected variants.

Another new feature inside is an Advanced Air Cleaner with a PM 2.5 particle sensor. The Advanced Air Cleaner is able to purify the cabin air of almost all tiny particles within a few minutes, and drivers can monitor interior air quality via the centre screen.

Now for the mild hybrid, it wears the “B” badge as opposed to the usual “T” designation. It utilizes brake-by-wire system that interacts with the energy recovery system to recover kinetic energy under braking, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The move to introduce mild hybrid options is in line with Volvo’s plan to make all-electric cars 50 percent of global sales by 2025, while the rest are hybrids.
