Watch this Mitsubishi Triton pull a load of over 19,000 kg!

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand decided to make a record-breaking run with the Mitsubishi Triton by showing off the pick-up truck’s towing capacity limit all in a video.

In the video, engineers used a Hino transporter truck that weights 14,500 kg with its badge blacked out.

The reason why a similar Mitsubishi Fuso truck is not used is because the Mitsubishi's heavy truck division Mitsubishi Fuso is now a subsidiary of Daimler.

The heavy transporter was loaded with 4 Mitsubishi vehicles, among them another Mitsubishi Triton, to weigh a total of 19,222 kg.

The chosen test field is a 500 m straight with a 12-degree elevation.

With the setup in 4LLc, a drive mode the locks the centre differential for an optimal 50-50 front-rear torque distribution, the Triton is seen slowly rolling upwards, successfully towing the loaded transporter up the hill.

The Triton’s towing capacity is rated at 3,100 kg. And yes, this exercise has proven that the Triton is perfectly capable of towing more than its rated weight.

But do note, while Mitsubishi is excited to show off the Triton’s towing capacity of over 10 times the rated weight, the pick-up can only safely manage that weight for a short distance, pushing it much further and you will risk damaging the pick-up truck’s transmission.

Regardless, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s efforts to show off the Triton’s capabilities has still left us in awe!
