MINI Malaysia has announced 15 units of the MINI Electric First Edition. Sold at RM 238,380.78, it is a good RM20k more expensive than the MINI Cooper SE. What do you get with that additional money? We've listed them down so you don't have to bury your face in the spec sheets.
1. New “MINI Yours Enigmatic Black” colour
The First Edition MINI Cooper SE comes in an exclusive “MINI Yours Enigmatic Black” colour. The bright yellow accents still remain with the new colour.
If you have a preference for the White Silver, the colour option is still available while stocks last.
2. "MINI Yours Walknappa" Leather interior
Special bits on the interior include MINI Yours Walknappa Leather Lounge Upholstery and MINI Yours Walknappa Leather Steering.
At night, watch the electrified MINI come to life with MINI Yours Illuminated Interior Surface as it lights up from a choice of 12 ambient light colours.
3. Panorama Glass Roof
Special to the MINI Cooper SE First Edition is a panoramic glass roof. The Panorama Glass Roof of the MINI Electric First Edition presents a clear view of the sky, day or night.
4. First Edition Door Sill and First Edition Side Scuttle
To remind yourself and other that you have purchased the First Edition, the special edition MINI Cooper electric car is covered in wordings that say “Frst Edition” and “one offifteen” on the door sills and the side scuttles.
5. Leather Cross Punch Seats in Carbon Black
The exclusive MINI is also complete with Leather Cross Punch seats in Carbon Black. The headrests, like the dashboard, and the taillights, get the Union Jack motif.
What remains the same?
The obvious electric powertrain and batteries remain the same. Maximum power output is still 135 kW (183 PS) and maximum torque is still 270 Nm. Battery capacity is still rated at 29.8 kWH, just like the MINI Cooper SE that was launched last month. With the 135 kW maximum power output, that means the EV road tax also remains at RM724.
Charging capabilities also remain the same.
Charging the MINI Cooper SE is done via an 11kW AC charging (100% charge in 3.5 hours; 80% charge in 2.5 hours). DC Fast Charging can be done at a maximum rate of 50kW (80% charge in 36 minutes). The MINI Cooper SE uses a Type 2 connector for AC Charging and a CCS 2 connector for DC Fast Charging.
Driving assistance features have also been carried over from the normal MINI Cooper SE:
- Camera-based driving assistance system (consists of the Speed Limit and digital high-beam assistant)
- Person warning with light city braking function
- Approach control warning with light city braking function
- Park Assistant
- front and rear Park Distance Control
- Cruise Control with braking function
With only 15 units available, you might want to hurry with the bookings if you’ve always wanted an electric MINI. Had you only wanted an electric MINi without the fancy bits, you could have saved RM20k when it was first launched in Malaysia.
