Bianca Bustamante, a 16-year-old Filipina karting prodigy, will be the only Asian participating in the Girls on Track - Rising Stars Youth Scholarship Shoot-Out 2021. The shoot-out will take place at the Circuit Paul Ricard from 21- to 23-October-2021.
The Girls on Track - Rising Stars programme was created by the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile, or better known as the FIA to us, in collaboration with racer Susie Wolff’s motorsport initiative Dare To Be Different (D2BD) mission back in 2019.

Designed to be an educational programme for girls aged between 8 and 18 years old, the programme aims to increase female participation in the male-dominated sport. The strongest challenger of the programme will receive a full scholarship at the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA).
Bianca is classified in the Senior category and will go head-to-head with 13 other racers on the Circuit Paul Ricard for three days. The top four finishers in both the Junior and Senior categories will then be sent to the FDA in Fiorano Circuit in Maranello, Italy for a one-week course.
The finalists will continue challenging each other during the week-long training camp in Formula 4 cars. Ferrari will then recruit the strongest driver into the FDA with a full race scholarship.
In case you’re wondering, the Ferrari Driver Academy has produced several popular names like current Scuderia Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez, Haas driver Mick Schumacher, as well as the late Jules Bianchi.
Bianca is one of 14 selected from over 70 applications around the world. Having started her racing career at the tender age of 5 years old and going on to win multiple karting championships across Asia, graduating into Formula raising is the logical next step for the young Filipino.
Good luck to Bianca and we hope you make Asia proud!
