As you know, all new locally-assembled (CKD) passenger cars will be exempted from paying the 10 percent sales tax starting 15-June until 31-December. Imported new cars will be given a 50 percent discount on sales tax, meaning that sales tax is still applicable, but at a lower 5 percent rate. BMW Group Malaysia, however, has extended the exemption to their 2019 units as well.
In a statement today, BMW Group Malaysia has declared that they will be offering full SST reduction for selected 2019 year-of-make CKD models from the BMW and MINI line-up.

Like the government implemented SST exemption, the reduction BMW is offering is also valid until 31st December 2020. Looks like the BMW Group has quite a number of 2019 models leftover that has yet to be sold.
The full SST exemption is also applicable on top of on-going promos that the group is running. One of which is the RM 33,000 campaign for the BMW 630i GT.
Another is the MINI “Add Independence” campaign that features a range of cash rebates and instalment support for selected MINI models.
You’re probably wondering, what effects this will have on the prices of these BMW and MINI models. Quite a lot actually as 10 percent makes a large difference to higher-priced cars.

There isnβt a time in memory that doesnβt involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenβs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
