BMW Thailand has just introduced the 2020 BMW X3 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) at the ongoing 2020 Bangkok International Motor Show.

The new 2020 BMW X3 xDrive30e shares its powertrain with the G20 330e – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that does 184 PS from 5,000 rpm to 6,500 rpm and 300 Nm from 1,350 rpm to 4,000 rpm. The petrol engine is mated to an electric motor that allows for a combined system output of 292 PS and 420 Nm.

Thanks to its 12-kWh battery pack, the X3 xDrive30e has an electric range of 47 km and can travel up to 135 km/h purely on electric power.

Compared to the recently-introduced BMW X5 PHEV (394 PS, 600 Nm), the smaller X3 is down 102 PS and 180 Nm.

As the name suggests, the X3 xDrive30e M Sport gets the M Sport styling package, which encompasses a sportier-looking front and rear bumpers, as well as 20-inch M Sport alloy wheels.

The new BMW X3 xDrive30e is locally-assembled at BMW’s Rayong facility and competes against the Mercedes-Benz GLC300e and Volvo XC60 T8.

Compared to its rivals, the BMW is the priciest of the lot, coming in at THB 3.659 million. The GLC300e and XC60 T8 are priced at THB 3.479 million and THB 3.59 million respectively.

Considering BMW Malaysia’s commitment to electrification, there is a high possibility that the BMW X3 xDrive30e could be offered here.
