Hyundai said the new tech enables a six-hour "solar charging" for batteries, increasing 12,000 kilometers driving distance per year. The hybrid electric vehicles also carry a unique grille design with small rear spoilers and aerodynamic wheel design.

The automaker said it would adopt solar charging technology in all the vehicles after 2019, to help global automakers adapt to the regulations of carbon dioxide emissions as well as to improve the vehicle's fuel efficiency.
Heui Won Yang, Senior Vice President of Hyundai Motor, said: “We are striving to further expand the application of the technology beyond our eco-friendly vehicle line up to vehicles with internal combustion engines.”
