In the light of Covid-19 pandemic, it is not a surprise at all that Jaguar Land Rover has decided to delay the planned UK media drive of the all-important 2020 Land Rover Defender. But what surprised everyone was their decision to redeploy the media fleet to the Red Cross’ international to aid in their fight against the coronavirus.

Land Rover announced their decision to hand over the fleet to the Red Cross on their official Twitter account. LR’s communications director, Richard Agnew, also followed up with an announcement on his own social media:

The Red Cross have been long time users of the Defender for humanitarian outreach. Hence LR’s decision to loan out the 2020 Defender to the organisation to aid them on their cause.
Critics are still surprised by Land Rover’s decision, while many car manufacturers are turning to the government to beg for financial help, the financially troubled JLR has decided to chip a portion of their cars to help instead.
