![2020 Isuzu D-Max scores 5 star at ASEAN NCAP]()
The 2020 Isuzu D-Max has always been known for being a robust and reliable pick-up truck. Now it can also be known as the safest pick-up truck in the South East Asia region. Earlier in February, the Isuzu D-Max scored maximum 5 stars at the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash safety tests.
Introduced in October 2019 at the Bangkok Motor Expo, the all-new third generation Isuzu D-Max is built on a whole new platform known as the Isuzu Dynamic Drive Platform. Almost 50 percent of the body is made using ultra-strength steel. Aside from that, the truck also came equipped with dual SRS airbags (6 airbags on higher range variants), ABS, and seat belt reminder across all variants while the higher variants also get Stability Control and Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Under the new revised and stricter 2017-2020 ASEAN NCAP protocols that now takes into account passive and active safety technologies, the D-Max scored 83.16 points out of a possible 100 giving it that perfect 5-star rating.
The score is determined based on three major tests. The D-Max scored 42.72 points out of 50 for the Adult Occupant Protection and 21.83 points out of 25 points for the Child Occupant Protection tests. It also scored 18.61 points out of 25 points in Safety Assist Technologies.

Isuzu Malaysia has no plans to bring the third generation 2020 Isuzu D-Max to Malaysia yet, its arrival would most probably be scheduled in 2022 seeing as the second facelift for the second-generation model just made its debut in Malaysia.
