Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia launched its new Land Rover Discovery Sport in Malaysia, available only in R-Dynamic variant, with a selection of 5-seater and 5+2 seat high-spec version, priced at RM 378,800 and RM 409,800 (excluding road tax and insurance).

What’s new on the Discover Sport R-Dynamic? For a start, the exterior now features a new signature LED headlight and taillight, new front grille and sleeker-looking front and rear bumper. The angular exhaust exits are now integrated together with the faux rear diffuser for a touch of aggressiveness.

The new Discovery Sport R-Dynamic comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged ‘Ingenium’ petrol engine with 200 PS and 320 Nm of torque, mated to the ZF nine-speed torque converter automatic.

The driving experience has been refined further, with a new power transfer feature called the Driveline Disconnect, which works by disconnecting the drive of the front axle to the rear wheel under steady cruise to reduce frictional losses, with the AWD system re-engaged in less than 500 milliseconds.

The Terrain Response 2 is made standard across the range, with a new Auto mode that lets the Discovery adapts to any terrain. Drivers may switch from Comfort to Sand, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud & Ruts mode at any time.

Inside, the interior has been refreshed with a sleeker and suave-looking dashboard, including a new pistol-shaped electric gear-lever, replacing the old rotary dial gear-lever. It now comes with 10-inch touchscreen infotainment that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also allows the driver to control the climate system and select Terrain Response 2 modes.

On top of that, the new Discovery Sport features Generation 2 Head-Up Display, which enables the driver to view key information such as vehicle speed, gear position, and navigation directly on the windscreen.

Land Rover also took the opportunity to introduce ClearSight Ground View, a world-first technology that provides the driver with a clear virtual view of the ground in assisting drivers to navigate though terrains, parking and avoid side curbs on the road. Also available is the wireless device charging, which now comes standard.

Safety-wise, the new Discovery Sport features seven airbags, front and rear parking aids as well as a 360-degree camera equipped with Wade Sensing features. Others include a plethora of driver assists such as High-Speed Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Condition Monitor.
