Not only has Mitsubishi Motors Vietnam (MMV) launched the 2020 Mitsubishi Xpander facelift in Vietnam, they also have plans to locally assemble (CKD) the popular MPV at the Binh Duong (just an hour's drive from the Ho Chi Minh City) starting from August 2020.
Not much has changed on the facelifted Xpander, the only few changes are mostly cosmetics like a new front grille, new wheels and a shark fin antenna. Mitsubishi has also upgraded the headlights to LED fitments.

On the inside, the new Xpander gets new black leather upholstery and a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated MIVEC engine that produces 105 PS and 141 Nm, paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission remains unchanged.
No upgrades were made on the safety system front for the Xpander as well. So, the MPV will still only boast 2 airbags and basic safety equipment like ABS, EBD.
For now, MMV only has plans to CKD the 4-speed automatic Xpander variants in the Binh Duong factory, while the manual Xpander will still be imported (CBU) from Indonesia.
Closer to home, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia will be launching the facelifted Xpander soon as the MPV has already been spied in Malaysia. Talks of launching the car started in 2019, but plans were pushed back due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There isn’t a time in memory that doesn’t involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle women’s magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
