The Proton Iriz is Proton’s B-segment hatchback that goes head-to-head against the Perodua Myvi.
In this article, we will take a closer look and see how much owners need to pay in terms of maintenance and insurance cost for the Proton Iriz over a 5-year period.
Like other Campro-powered Proton models, the Iriz requires a mandatory oil change at the 1,000-km mark, which costs RM 121.09.
Subsequently, the Iriz requires an oil change at every 10,000-km/6-month interval.
The most expensive service is at the 60,000-km/36-month mark, as that is a major service. Owners are required to replace their spark plugs, engine oil, air filter, and transmission fluid during this service. It costs RM 743.41 to service the Iriz CVT at this interval.
As for manual variants of the Iriz, the 60,000-km service interval only costs RM 343.33, as the manual transmission fluid isn’t due until the 100,000-km mark.
That said, it is worth keeping in mind that Proton has shifted the timing belt replacement to the 110,000-km/66-month mark, which costs RM 633.85 for both variants of the Iriz.
Over a 5-year/100,000-km period, owners of automatic variants of the Iriz need to pay RM 3,051 to service their car, while maintaining the manual variant is slightly cheaper, coming in at RM 2,720. Keep in mind that these prices do not include the timing belt replacement at the 110,000-km mark and optional items that the service centre offers.
As for the Iriz’s insurance rates, it is listed below:
- Iriz 1.3 Standard Manual: RM 1,131
- Iriz 1.3 Standard CVT: RM 1,205
- Iriz 1.3 Executive CVT: RM 1,327
- Iriz 1.6 Executive CVT: RM 1,404
- Iriz 1.6 Premium CVT: RM 1,502
Keep in mind that the prices mentioned above assumes that the driver has zero NCD, zero loading and excludes additional coverage items, such as windshield or flood coverage.
