Just as Proton is set to resume all showrooms and service outlets tomorrow, the national carmaker has announced that their 2020 Proton X70 CKD will be updated with an N95 cabin filter.

This is a very timely update as the world is facing unprecedented times against the Covid-19 pandemic. This marks the first running change on the X70 CKD since it was launched in February 2020.

The updated feature is actually part of Geely’s commitment to introduce safer and healthy cars after the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic. Geely models that are produced from March 2020 are equipped with the Intelligent Air Purification System (IAPS).

The IAPS system uses an active carbon chemical filter that absorbs harmful gases as they enter the vehicle and filters out unpleasant odor as well as harmful pollutants. Additionally, it also comes with a negative ion generator that sterilises and deodorises pollutants in the vehicle. This step removes airborne viruses, bacteria, fungi, and molds, etc, achieving the same level of air filtration as an N95 respiration system.

With the update, Proton X70 is now not only effective in combating haze but also viruses such as the Covid-19. 

We expect there will be no change in pricing for the Proton X70 CKD (from RM 94k to 122k). The company will announce the availability of these N95 cabin filter-equipped X70 when the time is right.
