Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) has launched the all-new 2020 Range Rover Evoque, 9 years since the release of its predecessor.

Prices

Two variants of the Evoque are offered. The entry variant is priced at RM 426,828 and the range-topping variant, the Evoque R-Dynamic is priced at RM 475,398

Prices here are stated with the inclusion of the 50 per cent sales tax exemption from the government, and excludes car registration, insurance and road tax.

Exterior

Dimension wise, the Evoque has a length of 4,371 mm, a width of 2,100 mm, a height of 1,649 mm and a wheelbase of 2,681 mm.

The SUV still retains its signature design, along with updated visuals. It gets larger air intakes to aid aerodynamics and flush door handles come standard for all variants of the Evoque.

Xenon headlights previously featured on the old Evoque have been replaced with new slim Matrix LED headlights.

Other new features include animated signal indicators and 20-inch multispoke rims. The R-Dynamic variant gets a few extra design features with front fender inserts, and copper accents on the front and rear bumpers.

Engine
The new Range Rover Evoque gets a brand-new Ingenium 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine. Both variants get the same engine, but with different stages of tune.

The entry-level engine cranks out 200 PS and 320 Nm, with a top speed of 216 km/h making the century sprint in 8.5 seconds.

For the range-topping R-Dynamic variant, it cranks out 249 PS and 365 Nm, with a top speed of 230 km/h and makes the century sprint in 7.5 seconds.

The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels.

Interior

Inside, the SUV comes standard with state-of-the-art 10-inch Land Rover InControl Touch Pro Duo touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 11 Meridian speakers and a subwoofer. The driver gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Compared to the old Evoque, the boot volume is now 10 percent larger. Boot space is now increased to hold 591 litres, folding the rear seats will increase the boot volume to 1,383 litres.

Safety and other features

Range Rover’s latest SUV comes with plenty of high tech features. For the first-time ever, the new Evoque comes with Smart Settings and ClearSight technology.

ClearSight Rear View comes standard for all variants while ClearSight Ground View is only exclusive to the range-topping R-Dynamic.

Driver Condition Monitor is another added safety feature in the new Evoque. It detects the driver's inputs on the wheel to monitor for fatigue and sends out a warning through the digital instrument cluster.

Smart Settings is the Evoque’s new onboard AI that can adjust the driver seat, steering column position, climate control settings and manage media settings to suit an individual’s preferences. Up to 8 drivers can be registered by the AI.

Terrain Response 2 will detect the surface the car is driven on and adjust the setup accordingly.

The new Evoque now has a 600 mm wading dept, compared to the previous generation of 500 mm.
