Birthdays are always special and Toyota thinks so too, launching the Toyota Camry WS Black Edition in Japan to mark the Camry nameplate's 40th year anniversary.
It’s based on the range-topping WS (Worldwide & Sporty) variant and features exclusive additions to give it more pizazz - most notably the Precious Black Pearl finish.
Toyota says the colour is blended in such a way that the aluminium pigments help achieve a distinct contrast in different lighting conditions.
In addition, it features a special clear coat that has self-restoring qualities and is resistant to surface scratches.
Owners who want their Black Edition to be a little brighter however can opt for Emotional Red or Platinum White Mica, both which can be paired with an Attitude Black Mica roof for the two-tone look.
Aside from the paint, it also gets a dark chrome front lip.
The LED head and tail lights have been given the smoked treatment as well.
Capping off the exterior are these 18-inch aluminium wheels.
Interior
The same theme carries over inside, where owners now have the choice to spec their interior in bright red or keep the default black option.
Both the driver and front passenger get heated and power-adjustable seats.
In addition to this commemorative model, all Camry variants now get a blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic auto brake and parking support brake system as standard.
Under the hood, the Black Edition retains the same 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain delivering 178 PS and 221 Nm.
Prices start at JPY 4.21 million (~RM 166,827) for the front-wheel drive version and JPY 4.41 million (~RM 174,677) for the variant equipped with the E-Four all-wheel drive system.
