Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has opened bookings for the updated B8 Passat.

According to the booking page, it appears that VPCM has streamlined the Passat line-up to just one variant – the 2.0 TSI Elegance.

Under the hood, expect to see a carried over 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 220 PS from 4,500 rpm to 6,200 rpm and 350 Nm from 1,500 rpm to 4,400 rpm, mated to a wet-type 6-speed dual-clutch automatic.

To recap, the updated B8 Passat made its global debut back in February at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Considering that the outgoing B8 Passat is already a relatively handsome model, Volkswagen has given it a mild nip-and-tuck for its mid-life update.

As such, it gets a restyled exterior with slimmer LED headlights, a new grille, revised front and rear bumpers plus redesigned alloy wheels.

The interior has also been updated, as Volkswagen has removed the analog clock and repositioned the hazard light button. 

Other changes include Travel Assist, third generation Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB3) with an eSIM (embedded SIM), and capacitive steering wheel controls.
