2021 BMW iX makes regional debut in Thailand, price equal to RM 792k

Two months after its global debut at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, the 2021 BMW iX has found its way to Thailand, marking its arrival in the ASEAN region. The model is imported (CBU) from Germany.
Bookings for the BMW iX will commence on 21-June in Thailand. Those keen to get one can pre-book on BMW Thailand's website. BMW Thailand is offering a sole iX xDrive50 variant, priced at THB 5.99 million (~RM 792k).
The xDrive50 variant is powered by two electric motors, capable of delivering 523 PS and 765 Nm. The two electric motors are able to propel the 2,585-kg iX from a dead-stop to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
The two electric motors in the BMW iX are juiced by a 111.5-kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. BMW says that the iX can return a range of up to 630 km per charge under the WLTP test cycle. It is also equipped with adaptive recuperation that automatic adapts the brake energy recuperation according to different driving conditions.
Speaking of charge, the BMW iX takes 56 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% when using a 100-kW DC charger. If the slower 50-kW charger is used, then it takes 111 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
The BMW iX also gets a host of creature comforts, including heated and ventilated front seats, Sky Lounge panoramic sunroof, quad-zone automatic air-conditioning, and BMW Live Cockpit Professional with a Bowers and Wilkins Diamond surround sound system.
In terms of after-sales, BMW Thailand is offering the BSI Standard package with a 4-year unlimited mileage warranty as part of the package. As for the high-voltage battery, it is backed by an 8-year / 160,000-km warranty. Customers can opt for the BSI Ultimate that bumps the warranty to 6 years, costing an additional THB 110,000.
Six colours are available in Thailand, namely Aventurin Red, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Sophisto Grey, and Storm Bay.
Closer to home, BMW Malaysia has already begun teasing the BMW iX on its homepage. Specifications of the Malaysian-spec BMW iX is unknown at this point of time, but those interested can put their registration of interest down.
