Geely has launched the boldest looking version of the Geely Boyue, aka the Proton X70 at the 2021 Chengdu Auto Show. Known as the 2021 Geely Boyue X, here’s a closer look at the SUV’s exterior.
We’ve seen a mixture of studio photos and spy shots, but now the live video Geely uploaded gives us a more detailed look of the car on display.

The most obvious difference is the presence of the bold X-themed all-black grille rather than the company’s signature ‘Expanding Cosmos’ grille. The grille also gets a matching all-black Geely logo.
Bright orange strips decorate the fog lamp housing and the side skirts to give the car a sportier look. Meanwhile, shiny black 5-spoke wheels paired with orange-painted brake callipers complete the exterior enhancements.

Powering the Boyue X is the same 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 184 PS and 300 Nm as the Proton X70. The engine is also mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Geely has yet to reveal more details like the price of the Boyue X. It is highly speculated that the bolder Boyue is the last update before they launch the all-new CMA-based model.

The SUV is also tipped to either replace the regular Boyue or it could also slot between the regular Boyue and the range-topping Boyue Pro.
