Honda Japan has released a video on the 2021 Honda HR-V being subjected to performance tests on snow. In Japan, the all-new Honda HR-V (known as Vezel in Japan) is slated to go on sale in April.

Powertrain options for the 2021 Honda HR-V include a 1.5-litre paired to a CVT, and a 1.5-litre petrol-electric e:HEV hybrid powertrain, similar to the one that powers the Honda City RS. All-wheel drive (AWD) option, Honda calls it Real Time AWD, is available for both powertrains.

Real Time AWD system is able to monitor traction levels and distribute torque accordingly for more traction. In combination with the e:HEV hybrid powertrain, the power output is said to be very linear and responsive. The Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and traction control also helps maintain control.

As you can see from the video, the Honda HR-V appears to be controlled in the slalom course, and it performed the hill start on snow without any traction issues.

Full specifications of the 2021 Honda HR-V are yet to be released, which is expected to be announced later this month.

Prices of the 2021 Honda HR-V are expected to increase across the board by about 6-8 percent. And if the 2021 Honda HR-V were to be offered here, it will be priced significantly higher than the outgoing HR-V.

Will we get the 2021 Honda HR-V in Malaysia? If so, when?

Unlike the all-new Honda Jazz that is currently limited to selected markets, the all-new Honda HR-V has a better chance of being introduced in Malaysia.

By our calculations, the all-new Honda HR-V won’t be introduced here in Malaysia until the middle of next year in 2022. But do stay tuned as we bring you more updates on the all-new Honda HR-V.
