It has been 6 years since the global debut of the NP300-generation Nissan Navara. And now, the 2021 Nissan Navara facelift is finally unveiled after several teases.
As seen in the previous teaser, the headlamps are LED units with daytime running lights (DRL). Taillamps are LED units as well, with new signature graphics. It also wears the new V-motion family face.
There's a new PRO-4X grade that comes with black Nissan emblem, a black front bumper and black grille, door handles, roof racks and running boards accented by 17-inch black wheels and all terrain tyres. It also adds orange-red accents, a tint inspired by the colour of magma, contrasted with the dark grill, wheels, and mirror caps.
As for powertrain, the 2.3-litre twin-turbocharged engine gets carried over along with the 7-speed automatic transmission. It makes 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque.
However, it remains to be seen if we’ll get the more advanced 2.3-litre engine compared to the older 2.5-litre single turbo unit we’re getting here. Outputs are identical, making 190 PS/450 Nm.
Like the pre-facelift Navara, it uses multi-link coil suspension at the rear unlike most other pick-up trucks with leaf springs. This gives it advantage in passenger ride comfort but more impressively, payload is rated at 1.1 tonne.
Moving inside, it gets the new Nissan family steering wheel as seen in the Nissan X-Trail facelift and the all-new Nissan Almera. The 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and there’s also 360-degree view camera. Navara now has multiple USB ports throughout the vehicle to charge devices, with USB-C port in the console.
The new Navara is said to feature a significantly improved quietness, thanks to the increased amounts of sound deadening insulation and laminated windshield and front windows, further reducing the stress for both driver and passenger.
The 2021 Nissan Navara facelift is available with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that bundles:
- Blind Spot Warning
- Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention
- Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
- Intelligent Emergency Braking (AEB)
- Lane Departure Warning
- Intelligent Lane Intervention
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Back in Malaysia, there are 5 variants of the pre-facelift Nissan Navara available here, priced from RM 98,888 for the SE variant to RM 129,888 for the range-topping VL Plus variant. Prices are expected to see a slight increase when it arrives in Malaysia.
