With its launch set to happen some time next month, the upcoming B-segment Perodua D55L has a lot to live up to.

Thus far, the Perodua D55L’s DNGA platform – a derivative of Toyota’s TNGA platform, but for budget compact cars – is all but confirmed. Ditto for the D55L’s turbocharged 1-litre turbocharged engine, mated to a CVT-type automatic.

According to a recent post by Chinese portal Automachi, these are the purported specifications of the upcoming Perodua D55L.

The rumoured ASA 3.0 ADAS is said to encompass features such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure warning (LDW), lane keep assist (LKA), rear cross traffic alert (RCTA), and blind spot monitoring (BSM).

More interestingly however, is that Automachi also claims that the D55L's model name starts with an “A”. Last we checked, Perodua registered several names that starts with an “A”, including Atriva, Axeda, and Ativa. Out of those three names, only the Ativa and Axeda names remain as registered, as Perodua has since abandoned the Atriva name.

So, instead of Kembara or Nautica, could the D55L be called Ativa or Axeda instead?
