Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has opened bookings for the upcoming 2021 VW Arteon R-Line 4Motion. The new model will be locally-assembled (CKD) at the Pekan, Pahang plant.
VPCM’s flagship model is expected to be priced between RM 245,000 to RM 255,000 when it goes on sale later this year. Bookings can be placed on VPCM’s eShowroom here.
Separating itself from the regular model is its new turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, now delivering 280 PS and 350 Nm (facelifted European-market models offer 400 Nm). As before, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission takes care of shifting duties, but power is now deployed to all four wheels via VW’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
The 2021 VW Arteon 4Motion will also be equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) - allowing you to adjust the characteristic of the damping system, the steering, and the drivetrain as you like.
The facelifted Arteon is also the first Volkswagen model to receive the new Volkswagen and R emblems. It also gets a host of other updated styling cues, like a refreshed front and rear bumpers and new LED tail lights.
Inside, the facelifted VW Arteon gets new ErgoComfort seats wrapped in Nappa Carbon leather, a new steering wheel with haptic touch feedback, a 12-speaker, 700-watt Harman Kardon sound system, and a 9.2-inch Discover Pro infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Safety features in the new VW Arteon include Lane Assist (Lane Keep Assist, LKA), Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor, BSM), and Driver Alert. Seems like the earlier reported lack of adaptive cruise control is true after all.
