As part of Haval’s 10th-anniversary celebrations, the brand launched the all-new 2022 Haval H6S. The company’s first-ever coupe SUV is based on Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) Lemon platform. Prices start from CNY 139,900 – CNY 164,900 (RM 89k – RM 106k).

Although the coupe SUV shares the same name as the brand’s best-selling compact SUV, the Haval H6, both SUVs look vastly different. The H6S has a more sophisticated appearance compared to the H6.

The most noticeable difference is the smaller grille and chunkier wheelarches on the H6S. Designers took inspiration from sharks when penning the lines of the coupe SUV. Hence the sharp lines and slightly protruding bonnet design.

The rear end features a dual rear spoiler setup, dual exhaust outlets paired with a sharp diffuser. Black 17-inch wheels complete the sporty look.

Measuring at 4,714 x 1,940 x 1,729 mm in length, width, and height, the H6S is much longer and wider than the standard H6. Both SUVs share identical wheelbase measurements of 2,738 mm.

On the inside, the H6S’ dashboard is plucked straight from the H6. The H6S also features the same 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The only difference in the H6S’ interior is the Alcantara sports seats and the shot of neon colour accents to emphasise the sportiness of the car.

Buyers will have a choice of two engine options. A 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 221 PS and 340 Nm and a 1.5-litre hybrid engine that produces 248 PS and 540 Nm. Both engines are mated to GWM’s second-generation 7-speed DCT.

The H6S will go head-to-head with the Lynk & Co 05. With the H6 dominating the C-segment SUV market, it would be interesting to see if the H6S would top its category as well.
