Honda’s luxury arm, Acura has released another teaser image of the upcoming 2022 Integra and while some fans might be disappointed at the shape of the car, let’s not jump to conclusion right away.
Ever since the revival of the Integra nameplate was announced, fans all over the world started reminiscing about the good old days when car manufacturers offered some semblance of fun with affordable performance cars. Thankfully, Honda isn’t slapping the revered name on an SUV, unlike some manufacturers.

When the first teaser was out, many expected the Integra to return as a two-door coupe that will rival the Toyota GR86/Subaru BRZ. Looks like everyone is wrong based on the latest teaser.

At least the second teaser shows a better glimpse of the revived Integra’s shape. There is a sloping roof that is almost coupe-like and as we look a little closer, we can see that the tailgate boot extends all the way up to the roof, like a hatchback.
Still sticking with the tailgate, the design, from the placement of the Acura logo to the boot handle slit below it, is reminiscent of the last-gen Integra, the DC5.
Below the sleek taillight, we see the Integra name embossed into the rear bumper, a tribute to the third-gen model which would spawn the first Integra Type R.
But enough about bringing up past design elements, the most noticeable feature on the all-new Integra is that it’s a 5-door coupe. This is evident by the break for two rear doors in the teaser image.

Though the revived Integra is likely to be a 5-door coupe instead of the 2-door kind, the Integra was initially offered with a 5-door liftback as one of the body styles.
This all-new Integra might be harking back to the first-generation model as a sort of revival/tribute. Another element that is a blast to the past might be the frameless rear doors, a feature that was seen in previous 4- and 5-door Integras.
It’s still uncertain whether this all-new Integra will only be available in the States as an Acura, what powers the car, or whether a 2-door coupe or even a Type R variant - if it is sold as a Honda - will be offered.

Fingers crossed that it won’t disappoint but there is not much you can speculate on teaser images alone. Meanwhile, the Integra name itself is already revived in China but that is merely a Honda Civic with a different name.
