10 new Toyota EVs heading to Indonesia by 2025, plus USD 2b investment

Joining the likes of Hyundai, Tesla, and CATL, Toyota has also showed tremendous interest in Indonesia’s abundant reserve of nickel. Jakarta Globe reports that Toyota plans to introduce 10 electric vehicles in Indonesia by 2025.
Nickel is crucial in the production of lithium-ion batteries.
Yoichi Miyazaki, Toyota's chief executive officer for Asia Region, said in a virtual meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on Tuesday,
"Toyota is fully committed to supporting the Indonesian government's efforts to reduce emissions, and also reduce fuel imports for motor vehicles,"
Toyota had pledged to invest USD2 billion in Indonesia last year to supports its push towards electrification.
Although Toyota CEO, Akio Toyoda doesn’t seem so fond of electric cars, the plan to introduce 10 electric vehicles in Indonesia over the next 5 years shows great support for electrification.
