Malaysia to test first driverless Proton Exora in Cyberjaya

The first company that has received approval to use the new Cyberjaya Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle (MyAV) Testing Route is eMoovit Technology. The company will be testing their driverless Proton Exora.

The driverless Exora from eMoovit will be the first to conduct testing on the new MyAV route. The route is jointly developed by Futurise Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cyberview Sdn Bhd, and the Ministry of Transport (MoT).

MyAV was created under the National Regulatory Sandbox (NRS) initiative for the development of autonomous vehicles or better known as self-driving vehicles.

According to The Star, the 7 km route is split into 2 parts, the first is a short course that loops around the Futurise and Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) buildings, while the second stretches across Persiaran Apec, Persiaran Cyberpoint, and Persiaran Rimba. 

During testing, eMoovit will have to adhere to guidelines such as the presence of a trained safety officer in the vehicle at all times and the requirements of a compulsory visual identifier.

The vehicle is also required to have its signal lights on and road signages must be placed to alert other motorists that an autonomous vehicle is undergoing tests at that moment.
