As tough as the name is, this Daihatsu Taft Crossfield Ver. looks all kitted up and ready to go for its latest adventure. Through the roughest of gravel surfaces that is.
Launched alongside the simply adorable Hijet Jumbo Camper Ver. at the virtual 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon, the Taft Crossfield sports some adventure gear including front bumper guards, a WARN winch, under guards, an LED light bar, and tail lamp guards.

Enhancing the adventure look are RS-R suspensions and 16-inch Rays Team Daytona KCX rims riding on 175/80 R16-sized Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 rubbers.
Beyond the bright yellow paintwork lies some very playful illustrations that show the adventure side of this special Taft. The black stickers near the headlights reveal an illustration of some mountains and a moon while the ones on the side reveal schools of fish.
Even more playful is the music in the video presented for the Taft Crossfield and needless to say, it definitely shows the taft-ness of the kei crossover.
The standard Daihatsu Taft is powered by a turbocharged or naturally-aspirated 3-cylinder 660 cc engine and comes in either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Just like most Daihatsu models in Japan, it is built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, meaning that it is in a way related to the upcoming Perodua D55L.
Just like the Hijet Jumbo Camper, the Taft Crossfield isn’t going to enter production very soon and this is merely a one-off concept.
Traded advertising for a career that fits his passion for cars. Enjoys spotting cars during his free time and has a soft spot for Japanese Kei cars but drives a thirsty manual sedan.
