Ferrari 812 GTS lands in Malaysia, last Ferrari NA V12? From RM 1.5 mill before tax

Naza Italia, the official distributor of Ferrari vehicles in Malaysia have pulled off the wraps for their latest Ferrari 812 GTS at a closed-door private preview. Which could be one of Ferrari’s last naturally aspirated V12 supercar.

Malaysia is one of Ferrari’s key market in the South East Asia region which is why we were fortunate to host a simultaneous global debut for the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso T, the South East Asia debut of the Ferrari F8 Tributo as well as this 812 GTS.

GTS is an abbreviation for ‘Grand Turismo Spyder’ and the last front-engine V12 that wore the GTS nameplate was the Ferrari 365 GTS in 1966. This front-engine V12 spider architecture was not used in a series-production Ferrari until this 812 GTS.

Under the hood is Ferrari’s most powerful naturally aspirated V12 petrol engine with 6.5-litres of displacement linked to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It pushes out 800 PS and 718 Nm of torque and the engine will scream to a red line of 8,900 rpm.

Ferrari claims it will do 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h in 8.3 seconds (0.4 seconds slower than the 812 Superfast) and top speed is registered at 340 km/h.

It takes 14 seconds for the retractable hard top (RHT) to completely retract at speeds of up to 45 km/h and you can indulge your eardrums in the full ferocity of the V12.

Because of the new RHT mechanism, which spots a redesigned roof, tonneau cover and luggage compartment, boot space has shrunk by 110 litres to 210 litres. There is also a weight penalty of 75 kgs compared to the 812 Superfast with the RHT in place.

To retain the handling balance of the 812 Superfast, Ferrari has introduced new bits to the GTS for aerodynamics. You’ll find new L-shaped flaps on the upper corners of the windscreen, redesigned air vents at the rear deck and a revised triplane wing on the rear diffuser.

Prices for the Ferrari 812 GTS starts from RM 1,538,000 before duties, taxes, and customisation options. Interestingly that’s cheaper the 812 Superfast which has a base price of RM 1,578,000.

According to Naza Italia, deliveries of the 812 GTS will only commence in 2021 due to the production disruption at Maranello as a result of the Covid-19 global pandemic. However, interested customers can schedule private viewing between now and 31 May 2020 by contacting Naza Italia.
