Just a few days after BMW Group Thailand launched the Malaysian-assembled (CKD) long-wheelbase BMW 3 Series (codenamed G28) in the Kingdom, we received photos of a car transporter that’s filled with BMW 330 Li. Where could they be heading?

While the trailer appears to be on a Malaysian highway and the trailer is running on Malaysian plates, there is no way to confirm their final destination. We think that these are heading to our neighbours up north but the Malaysian launch is still imminent.

In the Kingdom, the long-wheelbase BMW 3 Series is only available with a single variant, the BMW 330 Li M Sport, and is priced at THB 2,899,000. As mentioned earlier, the Thai-spec 330 Li is assembled at BMW Group Malaysia’s assembly facility in Kulim.

The 330 Li M Sport measures 4,819 mm in length, 110 mm longer than the regular 3 Series. All that extra length is mostly beneficial for the rear passengers with an additional 43 mm of legroom in the back.

Powering the Thai-spec 330 Li M Sport is a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 258 PS and 400 Nm. This is then paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.

With those interesting specs out of the way, now we have to wait for an official announcement by BMW Malaysia on the long-wheelbase 3 Series’ local arrival.
