During the Proton 1 Tank Adventure back in 2019, the lowest fuel consumption recorded in the 2019 Proton Persona 1.6L was 5.03-litre/100 km. However, the drivers were most definitely hypermiling the Persona with the air conditioning off and whatnot. We’ve tested it in normal conditions and here’s our result.
As per our SOP (it has always been constant), all tyres were inflated according to the manufacturer's recommended tyre pressure. Then the Proton Persona’s 40-litre fuel tank was brimmed.

Driving behaviour was as per a normal driver, no hypermiling or hard accelerations with speed capped at 110 km/h. Air conditioning was set at the middle position.
After 91.9 km journey broken down to about 50% city and 50% highway, we’ve used 7.75 litres of fuel which translates to 8.4-litre/100 km. The trip computer indicated an average of 8.5-litre/100 km.
With more highway driving, we reckon we could get the figure down to around 7-litre/100 km, but 5.03-litre/100 km does not seem to be achievable in normal driving (air-conditioning on, mixed city and highway driving) conditions.
To recap, the 2019 Proton Persona is powered by a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine that makes 109 PS and 150 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT that drives the front wheels.

The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
