The National Security Council (MKN) has announced that interstate travel is now allowed between states observing the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) starting from 10 March 2021. But there’s a twist.
Residents in RMCO states are not allowed to travel in their personal cars. Those that wish to travel interstate are required to use the services of travel agencies that are registered with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOT).
States under RMCO are Melaka, Terengganu, Perlis, Sabah, along with the federal territories of Putrajaya and Labuan.
Other states like Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Perak, Kelantan, and Sarawak are still observing Conditional MCO (CMCO). No interstate travel is allowed in these states.
