For 2021, Bermaz Motor (distributors of Mazda cars in Malaysia) has given the Mazda CX-3 a refresh. Mazda's compact SUV has gained some new toys as it looks to stay relevant in the hotly contested compact SUV segment. So, let's jump in and have a look.

What's new?

The MZD Connect infotainment system now comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, making your smartphone integration seamless. On top of that, there's now a 360º View Monitor to remove the guesswork when parking in tight spaces. 

Also noteworthy is the inclusion of Mazda's i-ACTIVSENSE ADAS suite in this refreshed CX-3. It encompasses:

• Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA)
• High Beam Control (HBC)
• Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
• Driver Attention Alert (DAA)
• Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) for front & rear

Anything else?

The CX-3 will continue to be offered with one engine option, that being the 2.0-litre, Skyactiv petrol one (154 PS, 206 Nm). The 6-speed automatic transmission continues to pull duty here. Mazda's innovative G-Vectoring Control (GVC) continues to be a standard fit here as well. Curiously, the sunroof has made a return, having been omitted from the 2018 facelift model. 

Pricing?

The fully-imported (CBU Japan) Mazda CX-3 retails for RM 130,729, on the road without insurance. Bear in mind that this price is valid while the SST discount is still in place. You can have your CX-3 in these colour choices: Soul Red Crystal, Snowflake White Pearl, Deep Crystal Blue, Machine Gray, and the newly-added Polymetal Gray.
