If you didnt already know, the Toyota Corolla Cross has been a runaway success in Malaysia, selling out in a week. Now, the Corolla Cross has set its sights on conquering the China market. A source has indicated that the Corolla Cross could be unveiled as soon as this year in China.
Powering China's variants of the Corolla Cross are the 1.8-litre hybrid (combined power 122 PS) with an e-CVT transmission, and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit (171 PS) that runs a regular CVT transmission. Consistent with Toyota's current powertrains, the 2.0-litre engine could well be the Dynamic Force version.
Size wise, the Corolla Cross will bridge the gap between a Toyota C-HR and the RAV4. That sounds just about right to us. Question is, will the Corolla Cross be equally well received in China, as it has been in Malaysia? We will find out soon enough.
