Perodua Myvi driver dies after Toyota Hilux jumps red light

An accident caused by a Toyota Hilux who jumped a red light before crashing into the driver side door of a Perodua Myvi has been going viral on social media. The Myvi driver was declared dead at the scene while her daughter was rushed to the nearest hospital with serious injuries.

Harian Metro reports that the accident happened around 7.30 am Sunday. Early investigations revealed that the 69-year-old Hilux driver was on his way to Muar from Parit Jawa.

At the time of the accident, the Hilux was driven at a high speed, causing it to flip over after T-boning the Myvi and slide into a cluster of cars stopped in the opposite direction. Fortunately, none of the 14 other victims was injured.

Muar district police chief ACP Zaharudin Rasip told the Daily that the police are currently waiting for the Hilux driver’s urine and blood sample test results for alcohol or drugs.

PDRM is investigating the case under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
