The global semiconductor shortage has seen the Perodua Myvi losing the April 2021 sales crown to the Proton Saga, but that may not be for long.

According to Careta's report, sources close to Perodua say that the chip shortage issue faced by the carmaker "will be settled in a month or two."

Despite the semiconductor shortage being a global problem, Perodua should be able to address it relatively quickly because their parts ecosystem is shared with Daihatsu and also Toyota.

The source also mentions that it's "up to the customer" if they're willing to wait one to two months for a new car, or get something that's readily available but might depreciate faster, citing Perodua's better resale values.

Other than that, we have information that both the Myvi and Aruz will receive new shades of red soon.

Called Lava Red and Passion Red for respective models, it seems that both colours will be limited to only the range-topping variants.
